Keep Your Summer from Slipping Away

Keep Your Summer from Slipping Away

Saying “no” is something I’m working on this year, but summertime makes it a challenge. There’s something going on every weekend!

When did I decide that every second of every day has to be filled with something productive? Or that I have to say “yes” to every barbecue invitation?

When I realized July was almost booked solid before the month even began, I started to block out time on our family calendar for “just us.”

It’s not too late to take control of your summer schedule. Time at home for rest and family is worth fighting for. Schedule time for “you” before others start to schedule your time “for you.”

Time with friends and extended family is important. Fun events and activities will always abound. But restful time with those closest to you is hard to come by these days. And it’s something we deeply need, not just for our spiritual health but for our overall well-being. God commands rest because He knows we need it. It’s a gift worth receiving. I’m making space for it this summer. Are you?
